Creation…

When we look at a bridge, or a tower, or even a can of Coke, we instinctively know that it didn’t happen by accident.  Design is obvious.  It’s unmistakable.  How much more so, when we observe our universe?  The order and complexity completely argue the possibility of a random event or process.  Then again, there is life itself.

The human body has 10 major systems, formed from 25 elements.  It has 78 organs, supported by over 200 bones, held together by 35 billion elastic skin cells.  The average person has over 10 trillion cells all working in harmony and automated by a brain and nerve system far exceeding anything man has ever developed.

This same brain processes some 75 gigabytes of information every day, seamlessly sorting, cataloging, and prioritizing them to avoid overloading our capacity to understand.  It is estimated the human brain can store, sort, and retrieve over 2.5 million gigabytes in the average lifespan of 90 years.  This is about the same amount of information contained in the entire internet!  Not bad for an organ weighing less than 3 pounds and requiring little upkeep over its lifetime.

Mathematically, the odds of the human body happening at random exceeds 1 to the power of the atoms in the universe multiplied by 33,000!  Let’s just say the atheistic worldview requires a whole lot more blind faith than a world-full of believers.  Just saying.  THAT is the science behind the argument, my friend.

So how do we approach a Creator who simply speaks, and the cosmos jumps into being?  What is our response to a God who fashioned us with his own hands, created us in His very image, desires nothing but the best for us, and asks us to trust Him with all the details of our life?  The very fact that we alone have the ability to choose to accept or reject such an offer, boggles the mind!  Would I, in His place, have granted such free will to my creation?  What a cosmic roll of the dice.

Especially in light of His foreknowledge to see that most would discard Him, in the end.  By and large, this wonderfully complex and intelligent species would reject His plan, forfeit His love, and trade in an eternity of security for a brief lifetime of self-indulgence and perceived ‘control.’  It doesn’t make much sense from our perspective.

Yet, from God’s point of view, it is merely another demonstration of His great love!  At any point along this short timeline of life, any one of these individuals can come to their senses, turn to their Creator, accept Him as Savior, and return to His grace and mercy, in full.  No judgement.  No condemnation.  No guilt.  No shame.  All are welcome.  All are loved!  What an extraordinary example of goodness and grace!  How can we not surrender to so great a love as this?
